Report: Anthony Johnson arrested hours after his Bellator debut

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Anthony Johnson was arrested, Friday night, facing three charges including identity theft

According to the New Canaan Police Department, Johnson fraudulently used a credit card to purchase a round-trip ticket from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Newark, New Jersey in 2019

“A subsequent investigation determined Johnson used the illegally obtained credit card to purchase the airline ticket,” the report states. “An arrest warrant was obtained for Johnson for the above charges.”

Johnson, 37 years old, was arrested Friday night at a casino following his second-round knockout victory over Jose Augusto Azevedo at Bellator 258. He bonded out shortly afterward, and hasn’t commented on the incident since.

Johnson’s Bellator debut was his first bout since retiring in 2017 after losing a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight to Daniel Cormier. He holds a professional record of 23-6 with 17 knockouts.
