Mikaela Mayer vs Sandy Ryan 2 Breakdown
After the contested thriller, and the surrounding drama, that took place in September of last year, Mikaela Mayer and Sandy Ryan come head-to-head once again in an anticipated rematch. In the first outing it was Ryan’s belt to lose. Mayer, coming off of a loss to Natasha Jonas in an extremely close IBF title fight, was still hungry to prove that she deserved to be a world champion at welterweight. Mikaela Mayer accomplished exactly what she set out to do, but 6 months later, the roles have reversed, and it is Sandy Ryan who has become the challenger, ready to take what she believes is rightfully hers. If the first fight is anything to go off of, the rematch will very likely be a highly skilled, must watch, barn-burner.
Top Rank Promotions has also put together a pretty good undercard as far as showcase fights go. Brian Norman jr, the men’s WBO welterweight champion, will defend his belt for the first time against Derrieck Cuevas, 10 months after winning the title in definitive and brutal fashion from Giovanne Santillan. Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington, who seems to be a star on the rise will make a Featherweight appearance against Enrique Vivas. And another hot prospect, Emiliano Vargas, will take on Giovanne Gonzalez at Super Lightweight.
