“I received death threats” De La Hoya explains why he and Hopkins missed post-fight press conference

Gervonta Davis, Oscar De La Hoya, Ryan Garcia

Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins did not attend the post-fight press conference after the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight. De La Hoya claimed that he did not attend because he received death threats from “PBC Minions.”

“My security team told me, ‘Boss we got to get the f*** out of here because I received death threats,” The Golden Boy Promoter said. “You guys don’t know this, I received death threats throughout the whole week and they said it was simply too dangerous and we got out of there.”

De La Hoya added that Hopkins was banned from the event for being accused of rubbing testosterone cream on Davis at the weigh-ins. He says Hopkins touched Davis during the weigh-ins to stop him from falling off the stage.

“This is all coming from all of these PBC minions that are just attacking Ryan and Golden Boy, but it’s all good.”

The highly anticipated fight between Davis and Garcia lived up to the hype. Davis came out strong in the first round and controlled the pace before knocking Garcia down with a straight left hand in the second. Garcia saw success when he committed to the jab but eventually abandoned it as Davis took over the fight and stopped Garcia with a liver shot in the 7th round.

This fight has been in the making for years, with both fighters trading shots at seach other on social media and in person. We finally got the fight on April 22nd, and it didn’t disappoint.
