Jermall Charlo will defend his WBC Middleweight Championship, June 19th, against Juan Macias Montiel
The fight will take place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, as Jermall Charlo (31-0 22KO) will be fighting in his hometown for the first time since 2019
This also marks the first shot at a world title for Mexican knockout artist Juan Macias Montiel (22-4 22KO) who defeated James Kirkland (34-3 30KO) in his last bout - by first-round knockout
The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds and, should everything go well for Charlo, this may be his last fight before moving up to Super Middleweight to challenge boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez (56-1 38KO).
Shortly after Canelo's dominant win over Billy Joe Saunders, May 8th, Charlo took to Instagram claiming he's willing to make the move to Super Middleweight
"I'll Lose my title and go to 168," he said. "Make the fight happen now! Boxing needs to see this!"
Alvarez is expected to face IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant (21-0 12KO) to finally unify the Super Middleweight Titles but a bout with Charlo could follow
This will be Charlo's fourth defense of his WBC Middleweight Championship
