Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn Breakdown

Chris “Simply The Best” Eubank and Nigel “Dark Destroyer” Benn were two parts of what is considered the greatest rivalry in British boxing history. Two action-packed fights in 1990 and ‘93 had such an impact that the waves crashed into the next generation. While Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have been relatively successful at making their way out of the shadows of their fathers, British boxing fans have made sure that the famous Robert Frost quote remains true, “… the best way out is always through”

On Saturday, Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will finally attempt to finish what their fathers started over 35 years ago.

When Conor Benn made his pro debut at 144.5 lbs, Chris Eubank Jr was at 160 lbs, and had 23 fights under his belt. When Benn first fought at the welterweight limit roughly a year later, Eubank was at super-middleweight. The difference in age and size was such that nobody really expected them to ever share the ring. In 2023 the two were officially fighting only one weight class apart and, regardless of age, what was once a wish only whispered by fans became an inevitability. The first bout was snake-bitten and never actually materialized but 2025 has come and the fight they were seemingly born into, is upon us.
