Brian Norman Jr vs Jin Sasaki Tale of the Tape, Breakdown & Undercard

Rising star and knockout artist, Brian Norman Jr makes his way to Japan for a defence of his WBO World Welterweight Title against the power-punching challenger, Jin Sasaki. Norman’s choice of opponent has drawn criticism as fans are salivating over a Norman vs. Boots unification bout, but The Assassin II is the author of his own story. Brian Norman jr became world champion when he knocked out the undefeated Giovanni Santillan in May of 2024, which was considered an upset at the time. Since then he successfully defended against Derrieck Cuevas, winning the bout in the third round by yet another spectacular knockout in March of this year. Since introducing himself to the world stage, Norman has endeared himself to the general boxing public with his aggressive style and raw power, as well as his authentic southern drawl and personality.

Jin Sasaki was last seen on the Naoye Inoue vs Ye Joon Kim card where he won a wide unanimous decision over Shoki Sakai, a fight that Sasaki was a big favorite going in. This bout with Norman jr will be Jin Sasaki’s 10th since officially moving up to the welterweight division after his lone defeat to Andy Hiraoka in 2021. Since the change in weight class Sasaki has 8 wins, 7 by knockout, and one draw. While the class of competition leaves something to be desired, Sasaki’s come-forward power-punching style never disappoints.

When it comes to general boxing skill, Norman has the edge. But when talking about power, both fighters undoubtedly have what it takes to put the other in very real danger which makes any outcome possible.
