UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill announced he will be vacating his title after rupturing his achilles.
The news comes just six months after Hill defeated Glover Teixeira via Unanimous Decision to extend his win streak to 5 while capturing the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in a dominant performance.
“I was given an opportunity, I was given a blessing,” Hill said. “Jiří Procházka was the champion and he gave up the belt to keep the division going and I’ll do the same.”
Jamahal Hill holds an MMA record of 12 victories with 1 loss, including 7 knockouts. His lone defeat came at the hands of an injury suffered at the hands of an armbar in his fight with UFC veteran Paul Craig.
The UFC light heavyweight division is now once again without a champion. With the title now vacated, the question of who will step up to claim it once again looms.
Contenders like Magomed Ankalaev and Jan Blachowicz will likely be potential opponents for the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jiří Procházka
