At the Toyota Center in Houston, TX, Ryan Garcia(23-1, 19KOs) plans to make a statement against a tough and dangerous opponent in Oscar Duarte(26-1-1, 21KOs) in the super lightweight division. This will be Garcia’s return to the ring after a few months off following his knockout loss to Tank Davis in April of this year. He appears to want to test himself as he picked a very live dog in Duarte. Duarte is on an 11 fight KO streak after his lone loss to Adrian Estrella in early 2019. His best wins are over former champion Roger Guiterrez and Alex Martin. Neither of which saw the final bell.

Other notable fights on this card:
OHARA DAVIES(25-2, 18KOS) VS ISMAEL BARROSO (24-4-2, 22KOS)

These two are fighting for the WBA world interim super lightweight title. Davies has made a name for himself in his native U.K. having only taken losses from highly lauded Jack Catterall and future undisputed champion Josh Taylor.

You may recognise Barroso from his controversial loss to Rolando “Rolley” Romero in a fight for the then vacant WBA world super lightweight title. He had dropped Rolley early in the fight and was holding his own, but the referee eventually stopped Barroso during a Romero combination in which nothing landed. It appears that as some form of consolation the powers that be are giving Barroso a chance at the interim title.

Shane Mosley jr. (20-4-1, 11KOs) vs Josh Conley(17-5-1, 11KOs)

Mosley jr has not taken the easy road in his professional career, as one would expect of the son of a legend.. He takes even matches and has had plenty of tough fights. His last 4 fights have seen him victorious and he wishes to extend the streak that started with a good win against veteran Gabe Rosado. Joshua Conley has been around the super welterweight and middleweight divisions for a while, but has fallen short when facing notable opponents such as, Carlos Adames, Julian Williams, Sergiy Derivyanchenko, and most recently Steven Butler. This match should prove to be entertaining though Mosley jr is definitely the favorite in my eyes.

Floyd Schofield (15-0, 11KOs) vs Ricardo Lopez Torres(17-7-3, 12KOs)

Schofield is a very promising prospect that so far has always proven to be worth the watch. Though this match with Torres is a bit of a lateral move from his previous opponent Haskell Rhodes, he is still in the building phase and I won’t begrudge the matchup for the young talent.
