Joe Cordina vs Edward Vazquez

DAZN has a busy Saturday ahead. There are 3 cards in particular that catch the eye

Joe Cordina vs Edward Vazquez

At 1:00pm cst DAZN, the Casino de Monte Carlo Salle Medecin in Monte Carlo, Monaco will be hosting a card put on by Matchroom Boxing. In the super-featherweight division, Welsh rising star Joe Cordina(16-0, 9KOs) will be going face-to-face with Ft Worth, TX native, Edward Vazquez(15-1, 3KOs).

Joe Cordina has earned his spot as one of the top super-featherweight at the moment. He became world champion with a spectacular knockout against Kenichi Ogawa in June of 2022. Due to injury, he was stripped of the title shortly thereafter. Cordina was last seen in April of this year, gaining a split decision victory over highly-touted champ Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov after dropping him in the 2nd round to reclaim the IBF world title.

Edward Vazquez is no stranger to split decisions himself, winning 4 split decisions in his 15 wins, and is most well known for having acquitted himself well, but controversially coming up short in a split against Raymond Ford in February of 2022. Since the loss, Vazquez has racked up 4 victories on his path to the IBF world title held by Cordina.

Yokasta Valle vs Anabel Ortiz

8:00pm cst DAZN, at the Polideportivo de Cartago in Cartago, Costa Rica, Goldenboy Promotions has matched Costa Rican unified female IBF and WBO minimumweight champion, Yokasta Valle(29-2, 9KOs) and former WBC and WBA champion, Anabel Ortiz(33-5, 4KOs).

Yokasta Valle seems to be on a collision course with minimumweight star and fellow unified champion at the weight class, Seniesa Estrada. Future matchups notwithstanding, she has proven she belongs at the top of the division time and time again. Valle has been the IBF champion since 2019, and gained the WBO belt in the last half of 2022 in a shutout performance against Thi Thu Nhi Nguyen. She will prove her worth even further by defeating the highly respected Ortiz.

Anabel Ortiz, along with being a former two-time champion herself, is used to fighting at the peak of the sport. Over the course of her 38 fight career, 19 of them had a world title on the line. She shared the ring with the best minimumweight has to offer, including Seniesa Estrada, and immediately moved up to Flyweight to challenge Marlen Esparza. Though she came up short on both occasions, her effort in both was valiant. Since those losses she is on a two fight win streak.
